Annealing effects and Te mixing in CdTe/CdS heterojunctions

چکیده
Angular dependence of x-ray fluorescence techniques have been employed to investigate the effects of thermal annealing at various temperatures ranging from 340 to 387 °C on a series of CdTe/CdS heterojunctions. Changes in depth profiles of Te and Cd atoms in the CdS layer as a result of heat treatment has been observed. A simple model is proposed for comparison of the ratio of Te Ka to Cd Ka fluorescence yield at different annealing temperatures. Our results suggest that the concentration of migrated Te atoms in the CdS layer increases with the annealing temperature, and the Te/Cd ratio in the CdS layer could even become greater than that in CdTe with annealing temperatures higher than 370 °C. © 1999 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~99!04202-3#

Microstructure Analysis of Cdte/cds Thin-film Solar Cells for Optimization of Devices Fabricated at Low Temperature with Pulsed Laser Deposition
Low temperature fabrication of CdTe (1.25 μm)/CdS (120 nm) thinfilm solar cells was explored using in situ pulsed laser deposition (PLD) in order to control the CdTe grain morphology, crystallinity, and CdS/CdTe interface, which have proven to be crucial in CdTe/CdS solar cell performance. A comparative study was carried out on solar cells fabricated using PLD with the CdTe layer either grown d...

CdS is an important semiconductor used in optoelectronic devices. Simple techniques for growing CdS nanostructures are thus essential at a low cost. This study presents a novel method for growing single-crystal n-type CdS nanowires on p-type CdTe films by thermal annealing in an H2S/N2 mixed gas flow, which does not require the help of a catalyst or template. The formation process and growth me...

Solution-processed CdTe nanocrystals solar cells have attracted much attention due to their low cost, low material consumption, and potential for roll-to-roll production. Among all kinds of semiconductor materials, CdS exhibits the lowest lattice mismatch with CdTe, which permits high junction quality and high device performance. CdTeyCdS thin film solar cells have been grown by high-vacuum evaporation (HVE) and close-space sublimation. To understand the role of Cl on the microstructure and composition of the CdTeyCdS layers and interfaces, the cells were annealed for different durations after different amounts of CdCl had been deposited. Transmission electron microscopy shows a loss of 2 orientational relationship betw...
